Black women’s fashion in 80s was all about hotness and blingy styles. It was more of a disco outfits than subtlety. The black women doesn’t wanted to be subtle, they wanted to explore styles and wear whatever they like. They didn’t cared about the judgments coming on them through people. The black women has gifted by god with their amazing black polished skin, perfect curly dreamy like hair and on top of that the perfect curvy figure, which is a dream of every women.

Transferring on from the 1970’s trends for sportswear and motivated by a fitness craze, women in large numbers started wearing trendy gym wear in their day to day life. This was clicked in Jennifer Beals’ outfit in the 1980’s movie Flash dance.
Dance-wear inspired fashion with leggings and off-the-shoulder sweatshirts. while Jane Fonda’s power yoga and aerobics videos also inspired with these styles. In the early 1980s, the romantic trend raised by the plain dresses of the 1970s resumed. Princess Diana’s wedding dress was like a dream come true fairy-tale designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel. They multiplied this trend. Blowing sleeves, oversized attachments such as bows and belts, and ancient references made bold declarations.
When we hear or think about 80s fashion, words like bold, loud and bright come to our heads. It was the year of dramatic shoulder pads, earrings, big hair, and glittery cloth which were filled with colors. For the conclusion, the 80s fashion trends were more into flaunting materialistic values and wealth.

Anyone would be lying if we mentioned the fashion trends of the 1980s were not inspirational. That year gave more fashion icons than any other year because the outfits were bright, daring and rebellious. Bandanas were top on the trend list in the 80s era, you can hardly spot one women without bandana. Women’s loved bandanas. It was the mantra of the black women at that time, the haircuts of the 80s and 90s were so over the top and big. The 1980s and 1990s are the years which are still remembered by the name of Big hair era. The curls that the black women did were known as the Jheri curls which originally started in the 1970s but were continued till the 1990s. the African women had gorgeous curls, everyone wanted that type of curls, they looked breathtakingly beautiful trust me.
Women went to the salons and asked for the jheri curls, whereas the afro women’s already had it naturally! Some fashion icons of the 80s had also set some beauty standard for the black women, women used to get very much inspired and motivated by them.

They both are the 1980s legends for women’s. women worshipped them and died for life like them. The both were the most black loved pop stars along with their pop brother Michael Jackson of that era. These both had set some next level inspiration and beauty standards for the black women. Grace Jones became the party and style icon of the 1980s, she wore such bold looks that the tabloids were filled with her looks. She moved to Paris when she was 22 years old and walked for some of the very big designers like Yves Saint Laurent with her beautifully polished black skin with her confidence. Her confidence was something which people loved her for, doesn’t matter what she is wearing, where she is wearing and who she is wearing, she killed it all at once. When asked about her childhood, she explained, I was grown up with my grandparents and my childhood was strict, I will not lie, I was whipped by my grandfather. So that was the time when I decided that I will do something big and make everyone shut their mouths.

Black women fashion were taken to be a bit bold and odd at the same time by the other people of 80s, they mentioned they wore anything they wanted and explored too much with their looks which was not needed.
On one hand some people had a thought like that and o other hand some people loved them for their boldnesss and experimenting with styles. They adored that they don’t think about anyone and wears whatever they want and whatever they like, this inspired as women as the sense of being independent. Men were more judgy as compared to the women of the 80s.
Women loved and adored their styles and wanted hair and figure like black women.
